What is ATEX 94/9/CE?
Atex 94/9/CE Is a European Community law

  • It has been mandatory since 1st of July 2003
  • This law concerns risks of injections in explosive atmospheres of equipments that we use in these atmospheres.
  • It is used by countries of EU only!
    This law Classifies the equipments in 2 Groups (and these are divided in categories):
    GROUP I: CATEGORIES M1, M2
    GROUP II: CATEGORIES 1, 2, 3

The directive Atex 94/9/CE specifies minimum requirements for the equipment and protective systems for usage to the intended purpose in potentially explosive areas.

For the first time, the EC directive 94/9/CE covers electrical as well as non-electrical equipment.
